Summary

In a young woman’s all-too-familiar story, a lyrical love ballad twists into a nightmare of violence, secrecy and deception. A haunting, richly poetic reminder that the pain we hide unravels us all in the end.

Included in the collection ENOUGH! Volume 4.

SCARF – Gender is flexible, but preferably female or female-presenting. Any age. Wants to do her job. The mask, the shield, the one who covers everything up. Thinks she is a protector, but realizes how wrong she is in the end.
WOMAN – Woman, 20s. Caring, bright, empathetic. Falls in love with romanticizing adulthood. Easily forgives. Slightly insecure. Just wants to feel valued and loved.
BEST FRIEND – Woman, 20s. WOMAN’s best friend. Wants what’s best for her friend, but a little too wrapped up in her own life to realize just how bad things are getting. Drowning in guilt by the end.
MOTHER – Woman, 40s-60s. WOMAN’s mother. Wants her daughter to be safe. Also wants her to learn her own lessons. Scared to cross the line between caring and overbearing. Suffocating in regret by the end.
BULLET – Any gender, any age. Just wants to do their job well. Not violent by intention, but by nature and by the hands of men. Doesn’t know what the right answer is.
WAITER – Man, 20s-30s. Maybe he’s genuinely a good guy. Maybe he’s just like the others. WOMAN will never get a chance to know.

Note: BULLET can be played by the same actor as WAITER, although this is not required.
